We were asked recently by a board member of Oregon WINPAC to share with you the work they are doing and we were happy to do so because it dovetails nicely with our learning question about the impact of systems change and advocacy on racial equity.
The 2022 Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade has jolted many women across the country into realizing that reproductive rights cannot be taken for granted. In Oregon, the right to choose is safe for now, but there is no guarantee that it will stay that way if we don’t support pro-choice candidates. More than ever, women of color, young women, and women impacted by poverty are impacted by the inequities of reproductive justice.
Since 1987, WINPAC has supported pro-choice women running for office in our state. They’re continuing this important work after recently celebrating their 35th anniversary and they invite you to learn more about them here.
