Member Survey Helps Shape the Year Ahead

We’d like to thank everyone who responded to the Member Survey. Hearing from you helps us know how we are doing in certain areas, what direction to take in others, and how we can do our part to provide a fulfilling and enriching Girlfriend experience.

Here’s what we heard from you and how we are responding:

  • You found last year’s Meet the Finalists event and Voters’ Guide to be helpful in preparing you to vote. We will use those as templates for the coming year in as many ways as appropriate.

  • The majority of you prefer weekday evenings for our signature events with weekday lunch and Sunday evening coming in second and third. We will aim for weekday evenings when scheduling signature events (Discovery Forum, Meet the Finalists, and The Awards Celebration are our signature events. Discovery Forum was planned prior to the survey results.)

  • You are most interested in having us shape learning opportunities around how to facilitate an inclusive conversation, understanding systemic racism, understanding implicit bias, and understanding gender. We will provide programming around these this fall, and may be able to provide some smaller opportunities for some of the desired, but less popular, topics.

  • You let us know that the Member Updates and occasional emails are by far the best way you keep up-to-date about what is happening with ninety-nine girlfriends, and you like the pacing and number of them. We will continue on in this manner.

  • There was strong support for the website being a helpful resource and we will continue to work to keep it current and helpful.

  • A large majority of you became Girlfriends to make a difference, to leverage your personal dollars for greater impact, and to get to know local nonprofits and other women. We will continue to provide opportunities for all of these things to happen and we encourage you to take advantage of those opportunities.

  • Interestingly, the majority of you chose not to identify your age or race. We will work together to determine how we can move our diversity, equity, and inclusion values forward without this information while honoring your desire not to share these identities.

Again, thank you for responding to the survey. And a very special thanks to the wonderful Jean Malarkey for helping with the survey for the past several years. We appreciate you, Jean!
We will be seeking a new volunteer for this project later in 2023. If you are interested, please let us know.
