Join your fellow girlfriends on May 26, 5-6:30 pm for a special evening of learning with Stephanie Montgomery, J.D., our Racial Equity and Inclusion Consultant.
We find ourselves at this moment of historical significance as the broader white society grapples with our deep history of structural racism. Whether this will be a movement, which brings about a more just society for all, or is just another moment in the long arch of civil rights history is up to each of us. In her presentation, Stephanie will provide a historical overview of racism within the context of the United States and show how to unpack white supremacist thinking and how that influences systemic racism. Using self-reflection and other tools she’ll help put in perspective what we can do as individuals and collectively to move forward. This presentation will be recorded. Register here to attend the Deconstructing Racism event.
There will also be opportunities for small group follow-up discussion on June 2, 5-6:30 pm. For those who wish to serve as facilitators of these discussions, Stephanie will offer a training session on May 22, 2-4 pm. This workshop will include instruction and practice. Members participating in this workshop make a commitment to assist ninety-nine girlfriends in other discussions reflecting issues of race in future programs. Registration is limited to 30 on a first come first served basis. Stephanie will schedule a 10 minute phone interview with each participant prior to the workshop to help shape the training. Register here for the Facilitating with an Equity Lens training, and register here for the Follow-up Discussions.
