Community Energy Project, one of our 2020 Grantee Partners, was just announced as an inaugural grantee of the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF).
The grant will allow them to perform energy retrofits and repairs for 20 low-income Black homeowners, including installing rooftop solar panels on 5 of the homes. These energy-efficiency upgrades will deliver a 55% average energy use reduction and 38% average utility bill savings. What a great impact!
In November 2018, Portland voters created the PCEF program, which invests in community-originated climate action solutions that advance racial and social justice. You may even have voted to make this happen.
Charity Fain, Executive Director of Community Energy Project commented, “We are so excited that our first PCEF grant offers major upgrades to some of our long-term clients, and allows us to do work that we’ve only dreamed of providing. The impacts will be immediately seen in comfort and bill savings.”
And we at ninety-nine girlfriends share the belief of Community Energy Fund that everyone deserves a safe, healthy, and efficient home, regardless of income.
