New Format for Member Communications

You asked and we listened! In the 2020 Member Survey a majority of girlfriends indicated that they would prefer to receive fewer emails. Many also noted that while they appreciated the content of the emails, it was challenging to get a clear picture of all of the upcoming opportunities for members and know that you haven’t overlooked something. Our 2021 communication plan has been designed in response to this feedback.

Members can now expect an email approximately every two weeks, generally on Tuesday mornings. We’ll aim to keep these emails succinct, with links to our website to learn more. You can always find the latest on the News & Updates page.

The member update emails will have the following sections:

  • Upcoming Dates & Events: A list of what’s on deck for the coming months. This list will be concise - you’ll need to follow any included links to find out more and register.

  • Calls to Action: May include internal volunteer opportunities, membership renewal, surveys, and of course, voting!

  • News & Announcements: This section will include updates on grantmaking, descriptions of events and more!

Ninety-nine news, our e-newsletter, will also see a schedule revamp for 2021. Members and others who have subscribed can expect it in their inbox four times this year. This timeframe better fits with our needs to announce the development of our annual grant cycle and membership opportunities.

We hope this new approach will make it easier for our members to find out about activities and resources related to our work together! Know that you may still see a small number of ad hoc emails, in particular those related to membership. Some of these will be formatted to be easily shared with your friends, family and others in your network who you might want to invite to become a member of ninety-nine girlfriends!

If you have something to be included in the every-other-weekly Tuesday email, please submit it to Sammy by no later than the Friday before.
