We often spotlight Girlfriends answering the question: “why join”? We often hear that they love being part of something bigger than themselves. Many of us have made new friends, gained new skills, and learned a lot about the region we live in.

A question we talk about less often is “why give?” Contributing to the organization makes you not only a member but also a donor. We give together to make a bigger impact than we could alone since each member equals at least $1,000 in grantmaking (sometimes more if you have an employer match!). We also give together to keep this organization a vibrant part of the region’s philanthropy ecosystem. The $100 of each $1,100 contribution goes a long way – making virtual meetings possible, supporting the technology for this e-news and our social media, member education events, insurance… all the work of a nonprofit that’s often less visible than the big grants we award. Being an all-volunteer organization helps us put more of our money into the community. When you give, you are helping keep the organization healthy both out in the world and behind the scenes.
