Once a year we have a Discovery Forum to deepen our understanding of community and philanthropy. This year we asked about what the giving community looks like in our four-county region. What are the leading foundations? Who are philanthropic change makers? How meaningful are our $100,000 grants in this context? How is women's collective giving changing communities across the country? After a lively set of table discussions and grantmaking practice, Kimberly Howard led a panel of grantmakers to talk about local trends and issues in foundations and grantmaking. Thanks to Nancy Bales (Gray Family Foundation), Jill Fuglister (Mayer Memorial Trust), Sylvia Ackerman-Munson (foundation consultant), for thoughtful comments and observations. Using an environmental grantmaking lens provided a unique perspective for us all. Special thank you to our Member Education Committee for presenting this event.
