Workshop: Understanding Implicit Bias

"Implicit Bias" refers to the attitudes and stereotypes that affect our actions and decisions in an unconscious manner. How do these biases prevent us from reaching out to others? Could they affect our grant-making decisions? Come, open your eyes and heart, and see the world a little differently. This is a thought-provoking workshop.

Barbara J. Diamond, a civil rights attorney and producer of curriculum on implicit bias, will lead our workshop. Real life implicit bias experiences filmed in Portland will kick start our discussions and inspire strategies for becoming aware of our biases.  Registration is required and limited. Look for an Eventbrite invite by email in January to secure your tickets. Cost is $40 per member and includes a continental breakfast and boxed lunch. If cost is an obstacle, please contact Tammy at tammywilhoite@comcast.net.

Thanks to our Member Education Committee for responding to our members and locating a tremendous leader for this project. Special thanks also to our those members who have provided sponsorship dollars to help defray costs  make this workshop affordable.

More information on Barbara Diamond and her training at: http://diamondlaw.org/.
